The Schmid family farm's activities comprise meat production (Natura Beef sourced from suckler herds), fruit and wine growing as well as crop production and the entertaining of guests, with each area accounting for one-third of the farm's business. The family can entertain up to 80 guests in Helen Schmid's carriage house, meaning she has extensive experience of hosting visitors: "It gives me great joy to cook delicious dishes using our own produce and products sourced from the local region". She also lovingly decorates the Tavolata table with freshly picked flowers from the farm's garden. "It's my hobby", she says with a smile on her face.
Cherries are an important product on the Schmids' farm. The Tavolata host prepares a variety of products using the sweet fruit, including a cherry mustard which tastes great will grilled meat. A further favourite are her "cherry cups": cherries filled with sugar and kirsch while hot. These can be enjoyed either warm or cold. And, of course, there is also cherry jam, cherry liqueur and the famous Fricktal Kirsch (a colourless brandy made from cherries). All of these products can be purchased from Helen Schmid directly at the farm. Ideally, after enjoying a Tavolata menu!
